Florence is known for its art, history, and cuisine. But there is a side of the city that surprises anyone who wants to take a break from the intense rhythm of museum visits: its gardens. Small hidden paradises, flower-filled terraces, and large historic parks, perfect for a moment of relaxation between walks. And the good news? Many of these are just a few minutes' walk from our hotel.
You can’t talk about the best gardens in Florence without starting with the Boboli Gardens. Located behind the Pitti Palace, it is one of the most important examples of the Italian garden in the world. This style, born in the Renaissance, is recognized for its strict geometry, sculpted hedges, water features, and statues that create a perfect balance between nature and architecture. And for our guests, Boboli is less than five minutes on foot.
Smaller and more romantic than Boboli, the Bardini Garden is a little hidden treasure. Less crowded, it offers one of the most incredible views of Florence. Famous for its wisteria-lined path in bloom: one of the most photographed spots in spring, particularly between April and May, when the flowers reach their peak beauty.
It is also just a short walk from Ponte Vecchio and easily reachable with a stroll through the beauties of the city center. A suggestion? Visit it and then enjoy an aperitif at our Sky Bar: from there, Florence unfolds before your eyes like a painting, with red rooftops, domes, and the elegant silhouette of its monuments.
If you’re in the mood for some greenery without having to buy a ticket, the Rose Garden is the ideal solution. At the foot of Piazzale Michelangelo, it hosts dozens of varieties of roses and a collection of contemporary sculptures. Perfect for an impromptu picnic or a quick rest with a view of the historic center. A tip: climb up to Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset, then come down here for a fragrant and peaceful break.
Less known but very convenient to reach on foot, these garden is a small city gems. The Corsi Annalena Garden is one of the few historic private gardens now open to the public: an elegant and quiet place, perfect for reading a book or enjoying a coffee in the shade.
One of the most beautiful things about staying in the center is being able to experience the city without ever having to take a car or public transport. From historic gardens to small hidden parks, Florence offers greenery and wonder at every corner. Hotel La Scaletta, with its central location, is the ideal starting point to discover this more relaxed and natural side of the city. Because a holiday in Florence is not just about museums and monuments: it’s also the pleasure of a aimless walk, a sunny aperitif, and a green corner to remember.
