Our Story
A
Florentine hippy, an
absent-minded surveyor from Benevento and an
ex-restaurateur from Lucca, newly returned from Amsterdam, decided to become hoteliers almost by chance.
Without great experience, and rather blindly, they opened a small establishment offering accommodation close to the
Ponte Vecchio, the "
Florence Old Bridge".
The first positive results weren't slow to arrive, because they offered such a
simple welcome,
friendly, and
at times funny, and soon word went around.
And so this small establishment soon began to grow. The first big step came however in 2004, when this strange trio discovered that
Hotel La Scaletta was up for sale. Their eyes began to shine: 11 rooms right in front of their small establishment! And so, on the 24th of October 2004, they became the proprietors of Hotel La Scaletta.
And even today, that simple, friendly and cordial welcome, combined with an atmosphere which is classic, and yet at the same time modern, are still the characteristics which define Hotel La Scaletta.
